Competition for Effective Therapies

The promise of mechanical circulatory support using LVADs attracted some
of the greatest minds in medicine and engineering and by the year 2000, over 50 companies had plunged into the heart assist device industry to address the growing need for effective treatments.

The complexities involved with assisting or replacing
the human heart caused that number to dwindle to 20 by 2005.
Today, there are only four significant heart assist/replacement device
companies remaining, one of which is ReliantHeart.

The new HeartAssist5® supports a full range of patients from extra
large adults to pediatric patients as small as 18Kg., (BSA of .7m²).
